Lalu nod to Nitish as CM: Secular alliance forged

RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav have agreed to JDU's Nitish Kumar as chief ministerial candidate for Sep 2015, Bihar assembly elections. Two estranged friends have come together to forge a "grand secular alliance" to counter Narendra Modi wave.

SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and Congress Vice President said to have played a crucial role in convincing Lalu Yadav to agree to Nitish CM candidature. Lalu was thus far opposed to the name of Nitish with the clash for power coming out in the open. However for now the truce seems on.

RJD who seems to be trailing JDU in popularity, seems to made a compromise for self preservation. After apparent snub by Nitish to look past RJD for the secular alliance, and proximity of Rahul Gandhi with JDU, Lalu was left with not much options.

"For the sake of secularism, I am ready to gulp everything. I am ready to consume all types of poison," said Lalu to the reporters. Lalu was left out code by Congress, who seem to have go with the flow and ditch Lalu if required. This is quite a climbdown in Congree-RJD since the high days of UPA-1.

This is one of the first direct involvement of Rahul Gandhi in coalition politics. He looks like becoming serious to the job at hand to counter Narendra Modi.

Post Delhi shocker, BJP's bure din are not ending at all. It won't be easy to brush off the grand alliance. We saw a trailer during Bihar by-election last year. Modi might just be Kerjriwalled again.
